The President of France Emanuel Macron will have a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin at 16.30 (17.30 Greek time), the French presidency announced, with the main topic being the humanitarian operation to evacuate the besieged Mariupol organized by France, Greece and Turkey.
Emanuel Macron said he wanted to discuss with Vladimir Putin “the safeguarding of the humanitarian operation in Mariupol”, adding that the aim was “to start within the next few days” and blamed Russia for “non-compliance with international humanitarian law”.
Ukrainian and Russian negotiators have been holding talks in Turkey for the first time in three weeks, with Kyiv calling for a ceasefire without compromising on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
