Macron wins the first round of the elections with 27.6% of the vote, Le Pen will be his rival after getting 23.4%

The current president of France Emmanuel Macron has emerged victorious from the first round of the electionss French carried out this Sunday. The leader has achieved 27.6% of the votes. In the second round she will face the candidate of the National Association, Marine Le Penwho has obtained the 23.41% of electoral support, the best historical result of the extreme right in France.

The leader of the left-wing party Francia Insumisa, Jean-Luc Mélechon, has been third with 21.95% of the votes, followed by Éric Zemmour, a far-right candidate who represented the Reconquista party, who obtained 7.05% of the votes.

The Conservatives, represented by Valérie Pécresse, at the head of The Republicans, only obtained 4.79% of the votes, while the Socialist Party candidate and mayor of Farias, Anne Hidalgo, only reached 1.74%.

The abstention reached 25.1%surpassing by almost three points the 22.2% of the 2017 elections.

The second round will take place on April 24. Macron starts with an advantage in the polls, but many voices warn that it is not an irreversible advantage. The electoral race will take place in the next two weeks, with the high point in the televised debate between the two candidates on April 20.
