Tour guide Cosme Felippsen, responsible for accompanying the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD), during a tour of the city’s Port Zone, revealed that he was the victim of a case of racism last year. Tuesday (19).
On his social networks, Cosme published a screenshot of a conversation with a man, according to him as white, who had obtained the guide’s private phone number, and sent messages containing racial insults. The case became public on Wednesday, November 20th, the Black Awareness Day holiday in Brazil.
“A person here in Gamboa, a white man, arrived on my personal WhatsApp and said that I was colonized and enslaved. And that caused me distress. I revealed the situation to a group of residents here in Gamboa”, stated Cosme Felippsen on his social network.
The crime was recorded on Wednesday (20). The Civil Police reported that they will investigate the case as a racial slur. “This racial insult happened yesterday and today, on Black Awareness Day, we still have to fight with these absurd racial and racist insults”, concluded Cosme, in his outburst.
