Macy’s Inc has announced a range of new benefits for its employees, including a higher minimum wage of $ 15 an hour, a training program and greater flexibility in licensing.
The news comes at a time when manpower shortages are leading many companies to compete aggressively to retain their staff.
The department store chain stressed that starting in February 2022, it will invest about $ 35 million in four years, in enhanced benefits.
The training program will be available to all American colleagues, hourly and monthly, and will cover 100% of high school tuition, books and fees, college preparation, English language learning, bachelor and professional certifications within Macy’s network.
The company has partnered with the educational platform Guild Education to create the program.
All employees will be entitled to a minimum wage of $ 15 per hour, which will be fully implemented from May 2022.
