Made $ 10 Millionaires: The Incredible Story of a Couple Next Door

For every aspiring entrepreneur out there looking for inspiration for their own personal success story, there is the story of a couple who showed everyone how you can succeed.. Sometimes, success comes through the combination of two main axes. On the one hand, you need a good idea and, on the other hand, a willingness to sacrifice a few more is a prerequisite. Thanks to this combination, Sadie Beaudet (37 years old) and Jeremy Roberts (39 years old) managed to get rich.

The concept was simple: clothes for women made of materials and fabrics, used mainly for men’s clothing. “I like the way women’s clothes embrace the body, but I liked the pattern and prints of men’s clothing,” Beaudet told CNBC in an interview. This was the beginning of Tradlands, the couple’s clothing company, inspired by the men’s fashion industry.

In 2011, when Beaudet was 27 and Roberts was 29, they both left their jobs in San Francisco.

Beaudet worked as a secretary for a large company and Robert as a photo editor specializing in photo retouch. What united them both, of course, was the need for change. They were disappointed with their work.

«We wanted to think of something we could love and do together and we decided to start a business“, Said Beaudet.

Guests in a relative’s house and without a car

The thing is, Beaudet and Robert only had $ 10,000 to start anything. So they knew from the beginning that they had to cut all the expenses. Their next move was to sell many of their belongings, including their car, so that they could live without the burden of rent with Beaudet’s brother in Maine.

The real beginning of their venture was made with a website that sold just a simple shirt of new fabrics and colors. In its first year, revenue reached $ 40,000, according to Beaudet. Looking back, she explains that she felt almost compelled to try to make their “dream” work.

Of course, their relationship went just as well, if one thinks about it in 2014 they got married in a simple ceremony at the house of Beaudet’s parents in which the bride even wore one of the dresses they sold. From then on, the future began to look brighter than ever.

Their efforts were rewarded

They managed to build a loyal customer base, which seemed to choose with passion the clothes created by the couple. Then the company “caught” growth rates that reached 100% and 150% year by year. Eventually, the two returned to California and now work at Tradlands, which operates almost exclusively from home, where it started.

Although their collection now includes T-shirts, tunics and pants, which will soon find their place in the store, they themselves consider that the items that are worth knowing about are the shirts with buttons. Yes, the first item they put in their shop. «The butter in our bread is the shirts with buttons“, Beaudet has stated in the past. It is noted that their company by the end of 2017 managed to make sales of 800,000 dollars.

Dedication to design

To date, they have bought a car (of course), and have hired some full-time employees to help run the business. These two extensions are not a few for a couple who started literally from scratch. According to them, of course, this was the key to their success. Sometimes, having no alternative plan is the only way to make the first sacrifice work. “Not having a backup plan set us on fire to make it work”, emphasizes Beaudet.

As we understand, once again, in the world of entrepreneurship, what ultimately matters most is passion, dedication to your plan, but also the flexibility to dare to make difficult decisions at the right time. More than chasing money at all costs, it is more essential to have these skills and expect positive results in the long run. After all, the easy way to make a lot of money often proves to be the wrong way.
