Local production (often made to order), the highest quality materials, natural or recycled, and timeless design that survives the passing of the seasons and trends. This is the winning formula that unites the Turin brands we have selected.
If it is true, in fact, that our era is characterized by speed, mass production and the distance between the customer and the hands that made the product he wears, it is also true that there are small companies whose mission – in total contradiction – it is the recovery of slowness, of the personal relationship, of the human dimension.
This is the philosophy of I was born Singleby designer Andrea Francardo, whose blazers are made to measure in a production cycle in which nothing is wasted: customers visit his Turin atelier, where they assemble the garment inch by inch, from buttons to linings.
Similar concept for Alloa Casale whose garments, all in linen and other natural fibersare cut and sewn to order in the Chieri workshop, in the province of Turin, and for Aramu that creates jackets and shirts with stock fabrics.

The knit-lab of Maria De Ambrogio and Stella Tosco, founders of Serienumerica, a sampling and production laboratory dedicated to knitwear which allows research work on yarns, in particular regenerated and recycled, giving the two designers complete freedom of creative development.
In the shadow of the Mole Antonelliana, but with a cosmopolitan vision, they are then born the glasses of Vanni, Amma’s bags (in wicker and marsh grass), the costumes by BePopsy, the streetwear garments by OMY, the jewels by Raduni Ovali and the hats by Toppino Hats. All united by innovation and research.
In the gallery below ten brands selected for you, proudly rooted in their city, but at the same time projected towards an (international) audience of conscious consumers, aware of the need for a return to a more human fashion, made up of relationships, care and time.

I was born Single
First of all Andrea Francardo, founder of Nasco Unico, eliminated the samples. His jackets follow a production cycle that wastes nothing: customers visit his Turin atelier and assemble the garment inch by inch, from buttons to linings. A craft workshop, therefore, packs the garment, recovering the scraps that will be reused for new garments. It takes time to make a Nasco Unico garment and on this Andrea is inflexible: waiting is synonymous with quality. Il di lui is an on demand product, strictly made in Italy, which minimizes the environmental impact and recovers the human and personal dimension between the customer and the hands that make the product he wears.

Amma
Lawyer and mother of 4 children, always passionate about fashion, Luisella Zeppa is the soul of Amma, brand of Made in Italy and eco-sustainable bags whose name recalls, by assonance, the word mother. The inspiration comes from the sketches of the grandmother, who worked in the atelier of the Fontana sisters, but also from travel, from nature, and from the observation of society in constant evolution. Past and present come together: Amma’s bags are contemporary – also in the choice of natural and innovative materials such as raffia, wicker and marsh grass – but they are produced by Italian artisans who work in their workshops according to a tradition that has been handed down for generations. The result? Bags that last over time, for quality and design that goes beyond fashions and seasons.

Serial number
Born in 2009 by Maria De Ambrogio and Stella Tosco, Serienumerica is a brand that has made research its strong point. Deeply rooted in their city of origin, Turin, the designers work closely with local artisans, insisting on traditional processes and changing the rules to enhance and shape raw materials of the highest quality. In 2018 Serienumerica opens its own Knit-lab, sampling and production laboratory dedicated to knitwear which allows research work on yarns, in particular regenerated and recycled, giving the two designers complete freedom of creative development. Distributed in selected boutiques around the world, the collections are characterized by minimal designs, asymmetries and unexpected overlaps, with a timeless style not influenced by current trends.

Oval gatherings
Turin by birth and an archaeologist by training, Anna worked for years in the world of multimedia communication until, in 2017, she decided to change her path and study jewelery in Milan. In Turin you take wax modeling lessons to explore the possibilities that the lost wax casting technique offers in the goldsmith field. This is how Raduni Ovali was born, a brand of jewels made with the lost wax technique in silver and gold, with precious and semi-precious stones, unique and unrepeatable pieces, each created starting from an original sculpted in wax and its metal casts, worked and finished by hand.

Toppino Hats
It is the pandemic, and the consequent decision to return to her hometown, to push the costume designer Veronica Toppino to throw herself into a new adventure: thus the brand of handcrafted hats Toppino Hats. Degree in Industrial Design at the Polytechnic of Turin, master in Costume Design at London College of Fashion, and a training course within the costume and tailoring department of the Opera di Roma, this is the curriculum of the “Turin hatter”. To create a hat it takes two days of work in her workshop in Canale d’Alba (CN).

Alloa Casale
Cut and sewn to order in the Chieri workshop, in the province of Turin, using only natural fiber fabrics, all Alloa Casale garments are created to last over time. Not only is the quality fabric significantly more durable, it is also more comfortable on the skin and becomes softer with each use. Among the favorite fabrics linen, declined in seasonless pieces that can be worn in many different ways. At the antipodes of fast fashion, the brand’s mission is to recover a slow fashion, a minimal wardrobefunctional, worthy of care e that can be handed down.

Vanni
Awareness of one’s origin is essential: it is in Turin that the Vanni showroom was born twenty years ago, now housed in the historic premises of Palazzo Gramsci in Piazza Carlo Emanuele II, known as Piazza Carlina, where the heart of the city beats. This is where the special projects of the brand are based, dedicated to contemporary art and design, and here you have the opportunity to try the latest collections of glasses made in Italy, in all the shapes and colors available.

Aramu
Elisa, founder of Aramù, embraces the upcycling trend and creates blazers and jackets with stock fabrics. Her work starts from a spasmodic search for the best fabrics from the stocks of major fashion houses in the Biella area, which the designer recovers and transforms into tailor-made garments or produced in limited quantities. The materials change according to the seasons – linen and cotton in summer, tweed and wool in winter – the design is classic yet very contemporary.

BePopsy
Born from the will of the Turin designer Olimpia Boniperti to create practical, comfortable and glamorous swimwear, BePopsy stands out for its raw cut workmanship and for the elimination of all elements that may in some way constrict the body. The 100% made in Italy production, the design and the high quality materials become the protagonists of swimsuits with an excellent fit and quick drying. Among the fabrics used there is Vita, precious microfiber recycled from fishing nets abandoned on the seabed, and Sculpt with a modeling effect, with sunscreen spf 50+ and produced with respect for the environment.

OMY
An acronym for On My Way, OMY is a hymn to the audacity to pursue one’s own path. 100% made in Italy streetwear brand – all the fabrics used come from Veneto and the creation and packaging of the products is the work of seamstresses from Turin and Padua – OMY was born in 2019 from an idea by Luca Ortalda. Its fame, which has gone beyond national borders to conquer international celebs, is mainly due to the denim garments, made of refined fabrics, with comfortable prints and fits.
