Madonna concert in Rio will have weather monitoring

Madonna's concert in Rio de Janeiro will feature weather and tide monitoring to avoid weather-related mishaps. The event is scheduled for May 4th on Copacabana beach, and will have the support of Climatempo, which will implement short-term weather forecasting technologies, such as Nowcasting, and a monitoring and alert system, SMAC.

From April 16th, Climatempo began installing a complete weather station close to the stage, to monitor rain, humidity, temperature, wind speed and direction. A company meteorologist will be present on site in the first days of May and during the event.

This precaution comes 5 months after the incident at Taylor Swift's concert in Engenhão, where young Ana Clara Benevides, aged 23, died due to complications caused by the intense heat. At the time, the singer interrupted the show to ask for medical attention for another girl who was feeling ill and water for the audience.

In addition to monitoring, Climatempo will offer tips on its website so that the public can better enjoy the show, based on weather forecasts for the date.
