Madonna will perform a historic show this weekend. On Saturday (04), the queen of pop performs at Copacabana Beach, in Rio de Janeiro.
The free show will be the last date of the “The Celebration Tour “, a tour that celebrates the singer’s 40th anniversary. The official after will be the Brazilian DJ Pedro Sampaio .
In an interview with CNN , Sampaio spoke about the experience of being chosen for the last show. “Expectations are very high,” he said.
“Madonna is the personification of a revolutionary person”, described Pedro Sampaio. “I think that the causes that she has embraced since the beginning of her career have an importance not only musically, but also politically and socially for the entire world.”
“She gives voice to causes that need to be clarified and need more attention,” he said.
“Furthermore, the musical part of Madonna’s entire musical catalog is a catalog that I’m like… my eyes light up”, continued the DJ.
According to Sampaio, Madonna's career has the distinction of mixing social responsibility with very commercial music. “Because it has this mass consumption, she does this very well in her entire musical catalogue, which has this ccharacteristic and this versatility, this plurality of languages. So she sings in Spanish, she sings in English, I think that’s amazing.”
For the after, the DJ is preparing a remix of “Hung Up “. In addition to this, another track that is on Pedro Sampaio’s list of favorites is “La Isla Bonita “. “I think it's really beautiful that she sings Spanish, and it's a rhythm that I think she ventured into recording at the time. I think that’s why it’s so revolutionary.”
As for the main show, it's not just listening to the favorites that the DJ expects. “I'm more excited to see this mix that she makes with performance, with theater… so it's not just the music, it's the performance, it's the theater, the message she sends in her body performance, in her performance on stage with ballet, with scenography.”
“I think this inspires me a lot and opens the minds of all artists around the world”, he reflected. “When we watch and have the privilege of witnessing a phenomenon like Madonna… it's 360º, you are 100% involved and find yourself in a unique atmosphere that only that artist can provide. I think she does this very well and you see that the whole of Brazil is mobilized even before her show starts.”
The after will be Pedro Sampaio's third show of the day. “I'll try to make the most of it, before and after my show”, assured the DJ anyway. “You can expect a spectacle. It has a chance of being my biggest audience to date because we have no idea what Copacabana will be like.”
Pedro Sampaio performs after Madonna's show on Palco Leme, in front of the main stage and between Rua Prado Júnior and Av. Princesa Isabel. There is no exact timetable.
“I want to come to excite”, he concluded.
