The singer Madonna 66, used his social networks this Friday (13) to share photos made by artificial intelligence in which he appears hugging the priest Pope Francis 87.
“Going into the weekend like this”, she wrote in the caption of one of the publications and “It’s good to be seen” in the other. On the internet, the images were interpreted as a provocation to the Catholic church — which has already excommunicated the artist three times.
The first controversy occurred in 1989 because of the video for “Like a Prayer”, where Madonna chose a black actor to represent Jesus Christ in the scenes.
Furthermore, she appears kissing the character and singing in front of a cross — provoking the church and generating her excommunication.
The following year, the artist simulated masturbation on stage during the song “Like a Virgin”, which generated a reaction from Pope John Paul II, who called for a boycott of the singer’s shows in Italy and banned her from religion.
The third time, in 2006, Madonna was condemned by Catholics for performing with a mirrored cross during the “Confessions” tour and wearing a crown of thorns on her head, making reference to the death of Jesus Christ.
Upon seeing the scene, Pope Benedict XVI called for the singer’s excommunication, accusing her of blasphemy.
