Madonna show: Copacabana should receive 1.5 million people today

Copacabana beach, in Rio de Janeiro, is filled with a crowd of fans eager for singer Madonna's historic show, scheduled for this Saturday (4). Coming from different parts of the country and even abroad, admirers sat on the railings in front of the stage from the day before, camping out to get the best seats.

The expectation is for a record audience of 1 million to 1.5 million people for what could be the queen of pop's last show in Brazil, ending the tour commemorating 40 years of her career.

Vibrant fans

Fans were vibrant and full of excitement, singing hits like “Like a Prayer” and displaying flags, umbrellas and posters in honor of the artist. For some, this is a dream come true after years of waiting.

“She changed generations, she is a survivor of her generation. She changed everything we know about pop and, since then, everything that happened to music has improved”, said Luiz Henrique, a fan who came from Palmas, Paraná.

Other fans, such as a group that traveled from Bragança Paulista, in São Paulo, expressed their emotion: “Heart racing, trembling, alone, present on this wonderful stage. It’s a surreal energy.”

Economic impact

In addition to the excitement of fans, Madonna's show also promises a significant economic impact for Rio de Janeiro, estimated at R$300 million. Hotels are full, and airlines have released extra flights to meet demand.
