The city of Rio de Janeiro is preparing for the show “The Celebration Tour in Rio”, in celebration of singer Madonna's 40th anniversary. The event will take place on Saturday (4) on Copacabana beach and is expected to attract an audience of 1.5 million people. For the show, the city hall prepared a scheme similar to that of New Year's Eve.
The show is scheduled to start at 9:45 pm and will last two hours. Before, at 7pm, DJs will open the party. The stage where the pop diva will perform is being set up in front of the Copacabana Palace. Along the entire Copacabana beach, 18 sound towers will be spread out to ensure that the entire public can hear the show.
The Municipal Transport Secretariat informed that the municipal bus system – including the BRT – will operate uninterruptedly, for 24 hours.
New for passengers will be the exclusive Gentileza X Madonna line. The Gentileza Terminal, in the São Cristóvão neighborhood, in the north zone, will be the central connection point between the BRTs, intercity lines, the bus station and Galeão airport. The itinerary will take spectators from the terminal to Copacabana, passing through Aterro do Flamengo.
The fare for this line will be R$8.60, round trip, with access control and exclusive payment through the Jaé ticketing platform. At the time of purchase, passengers will receive a bracelet to facilitate return. Bus departures start at 1pm. Until 7:30 pm, disembarkation will take place at Avenida Princesa Isabel, number 186. After this time, the disembarkation point will be at Botafogo cove.
For the return journey, boarding will take place at Botafogo cove, between midnight (from Saturday to Sunday) and 4am. You will need to present your bracelet to enter the bus. The city advises users to download the Jaé app in advance and top up R$8.60 or recharge their cards.
Between 6pm and 7:30pm, only buses and taxis will be able to travel through Copacabana. In the case of public transport, the lines that pass through the Botafogo cove will be able to use the route until 7:30 pm. After this time, only lines authorized by the Transport Department will have access to the Botafogo Enseada Terminal.
Two bus terminals will be used for boarding from 7:30 pm. One in Botafogo cove, close to Botafogo Praia Shopping, for passengers bound for Central, Terminal Gentileza and neighborhoods in the North Zone, such as Abolição, Jacaré, Penha and Ilha do Governador.
The other point will be at station 6, with conventional and executive buses heading to neighborhoods in the west zone, such as Barra da Tijuca (Alvorada terminal), Cidade de Deus, Recreio, Piabas, Santa Cruz, Rio das Pedras and Campo Grande.
