Security
Rio's city hall is preparing a scheme similar to what is done on New Year's Eve: around 3,000 municipal administration employees will be mobilized for the operation. They will work in areas such as traffic, cleaning and emergency care.
The Military Police will have a staff of 3,200 agents. They will be distributed on the streets and also at 18 inspection points with metal detectors. In total, 65 observation towers are being installed on the sand strip, on the promenade and on adjacent roads. In addition, 12 facial recognition cameras will be positioned on Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana.
The Navy will carry out maritime control on part of the coast of Rio de Janeiro, in the section that goes from the helm to post 5. The closure will begin at 12pm on Saturday (4) and will remain in place until 4am on Sunday (5). During this period, buoys will be installed to delimit the area, and vessels will be separated, ensuring that they are kept at a minimum distance of 200 meters from the beach.
Only authorized and identified vessels will be able to occupy the blocked area, according to the Rio de Janeiro Port Authority.
Weather forecast
Anyone going to the pop diva's show should be prepared to face high temperatures, at a time when the country is experiencing its fourth heat wave since the beginning of the year.
According to Climatempo, Saturday should be sunny in Rio de Janeiro throughout the day. The expected minimum temperature is 22ºC, while the maximum can reach 37ºC.
Also according to Climatempo, the probability of the capital of Rio de Janeiro receiving rain on Saturday is only 1%.
To avoid weather-related setbacks, there will be climate and tide monitoring in Rio de Janeiro throughout the weekend. The objective of the action is to avoid tragedies like the one that killed, in November, a 23-year-old student during a concert by singer Taylor Swift at the Nilton Santos stadium, also in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
The young woman died as a result of thermal exhaustion caused by the high temperatures. At the time, Rio was also facing a heat wave, with thermometers reaching more than 40ºC.
Traffic and public transport
Rio de Janeiro's Transport Secretariat informs that the municipal bus system – including the BRT – will operate for 24 hours and without interruptions.
An exclusive line will be created between the Gentileza terminal, in the São Cristóvão neighborhood, to the show location. The fare for this line will be R$8.60, round trip, with access control and exclusive payment through the Jaé ticketing platform.
At the time of purchase, passengers will receive a bracelet to facilitate return. Bus departures start at 1pm. Until 7:30 pm, disembarkation will take place at Avenida Princesa Isabel, number 186. After this time, the disembarkation point will be at Botafogo cove.
Due to traffic closures, the city advises fans to give preference to public transport. For those who need to use a private car, the advice is to keep an eye on changes and travel in advance. Click here to see details about the special traffic and public transport scheme.
