Madonna show in Rio will mobilize more than 3 thousand police officers in reinforced scheme, says PM

American singer Madonna's show on Saturday (4), at Copacabana Beach, south of Rio de Janeiro, will have an extensive security system starting this Friday (3).

Around 3,200 agents from the Rio de Janeiro Military Police (PMRJ) will be mobilized during the show, in addition to pre- and post-event policing. Police officers will be distributed throughout the region and on the streets leading to the show area.

The policing scheme in other regions of the capital of Rio de Janeiro will not be affected, as, according to the PMRJ, these agents would be on leave from their units and were scheduled in an exceptional manner.

From a technological point of view, the Integrated Mobile Command and Control Center (CICC Mobile) will be used for the first time. The device was installed in a large truck that will be parked in Praça do Lido.

In practice, CICC Móvel receives images from cameras spread along the coast and access roads. All cameras will have facial recognition devices.

PMRJ personnel will occupy 18 inspection points equipped with facial recognition cameras and with police using metal detectors. Another 18 blocking points will be on the streets leading to the waterfront and 64 vehicles and 12 motorcycle patrols will be part of the motorized policing.

“The exits from the Arcoverde, Siqueira Campos and Cantagalo metro stations will also have teams carrying out searches and using metal detectors”, concluded the Military Police.
