A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Tainan, in the Taiwan region, at 12:17 pm (Beijing time) this Tuesday (21), according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The epicenter was at a depth of 14 km.
Tremors were felt in Taipei Municipality, lasting more than 10 seconds, and several aftershocks occurred following the earthquake.
Residents of eastern China’s Fujian province, which lies on the opposite side of the Taiwan Strait, also felt tremors.
A total of 15 people were injured in the earthquake and were rushed to hospital, according to Taiwan’s firefighting authorities.
