Magnitude 6 earthquake reaches the center of the turkey, without reported damage

A magnitude 6 earthquake hit the center of Peru on Saturday (17), but there were no immediate reports of damage to the nearest city, Puquio, in the Andean region of Ayacucho, due to its depth, the Peru’s Geophysical Institute said.

“The earthquake was felt to the central coast [do Peru]but it was light. There may have been some landslides on some roads, but no damage has been reported in Puquio, ”the institute’s head, Hernando Tavera, told Local RPP radio.

“Due to the depth, the earthquake was not felt hard on the surface,” he said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 23 km south of Puquio, in the province of Lucanas, at a depth of 97 km, according to the institute’s website.

The German Geoscience Research Center (GFZ) said the earthquake was magnitude 6.1 and occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles).
