Main rival of Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100: MediaTek Dimensity 2000 specifications revealed

Back in the last month, rumors surfaced that MediaTek’s next-gen Dimensity flagship SoCs would use an all-new ARMv9 architecture, and would also be manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process technology. Now Chinese insider Digital Chat Station provides more details on MediaTek Dimensity 2000 platform.

According to him, MediaTek Dimensity 2000 will have one main core ARM Cortex-X2, clocked at 3.0 GHz. This core is the direct successor to the Cortex-X1 that is present in the Snapdragon 888 and Samsung Exynos 2100 SoCs. MediaTek has not used Cortex-X1 on its Dimensity 1200 SoC, but has changed strategy with its next flagship SoC.

In addition to the main core, the platforms will also use three ARM Cortex-A710 cores and four ARM Cortex-A510 cores. This is the same circuit that should be used in the upcoming Snapdragon 898 and Exynos 2200 SoCs. As a result, MediaTek Dimensity 2000 will be considered a full-fledged flagship platform. As a reminder, the Dimensity 1200 has been called the “entry-level flagship SoC” because it outperforms most mid-range SoCs, but not on the same level as the Snapdragon 888 or Exynos 2100 SoCs. Things will be different next year.

The Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 898 are rumored to also use 4nm architecture. However, they will be produced at Samsung factories. In terms of graphics capabilities, the Dimensity 2000 will have a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU. It is expected to be the first platform with such a GPU. Mali G710 will be 20% faster than Mali G78.

All three companies are rumored to present their new 4nm chips in late 2021. Of course, plans may change due to ongoing disruptions in the semiconductor market.
