Maintenance of investment in infrastructure should reduce unemployment, says Inter

Inter pointed out that the tendency to increase investment in infrastructure could reduce the unemployment rate and increase the country’s productivity in the medium and long term.

In a report, the bank points out that 20.3% of the amount raised by debentures in 2022 was allocated to investment in infrastructure, which, despite being 4.4 percentage points below that registered in 2021, is “significantly higher than the average for 2016- 2020 of 14%”.

“If this trend continues, these investments should reflect in increased productivity and a reduction in the economy’s equilibrium unemployment rate in the medium and long term”.

This result, added to the growth in funding, demonstrates that in the last two years companies have made a very significant investment in their operations, emphasizes Inter.

It is worth mentioning that debentures were responsible for 50% of fixed income issues last year, boosting the private bond market, raising R$ 271 billion.
