MakerDAO Founder Proposes Spark Protocol Airdrop

Rune Christensen, founder of the MakerDAO project, has submitted a proposal to launch a governance token for the Spark Protocol landing platform.

The purpose of the “pre-farming airdrop” is to “encourage long-term interaction with the platform” by distributing 2 billion SPK tokens over 10 years.

Spark Protocol is a liquidity marketplace based on the DAI stablecoin and assets backed by a DeFi platform. The latter is a landing interface based on MakerDAO, but works independently of it.

The functionality of the solution is based on the third version of the smart contract system of the Aave project.

The protocol is integrated with PSM MakerDAO. This will instantly convert DAI and sDAI to USDC at a 1:1 ratio.

It is expected that over time, the Spark project will transform into one of the “subDAO” – a decentralized autonomous organization within the MakerDAO with its own governance token.

The new assets will be distributed to Spark borrowers using various coins as collateral. The remuneration is contingent on the amounts borrowed and the duration of the loan holding periods.

The launch of Spark Protocol took place in May.

Future plans include the inclusion of fixed-term farming products and a native synthetic liquid staking derivative called EtherDAI.

The next steps in the roadmap for 2023 include the addition of manipulation-resistant oracles, fixed rates – Spark Fixed Rates, support for L2 solutions and side chains.
