Although its popularity comes from Beasts, Francesca Fagnani she is first and foremost an investigative journalist of a certain caliber, as demonstrated by her success in bookstores Mala. Criminal Romethe book published by SEM Libri which, after appearing in the rankings of the best-selling titles of the year, is preparing to become a film and a TV series. In fact, Fremantle acquires the rights to the book and produces the two projects, with a story that will be signed by Leonardo Fasoli and Francesca Fagnani herself.
«I’m thrilled that Mala. Criminal Rome give life to a film and then to a series, and I am very happy to work with a very experienced partner like Fremantle which will give an international impetus to the story I have told,” said Fagnani. «I have rarely met competent and passionate professionals like Francesca. Facing this new challenge together makes us proud and happy. Mala. Criminal Rome is a great book, the ambition is to make it into a film and a series worthy of it”, the words of Marco TomboliniCEO of Fremantle Italy.

The book, as some may already know, is about a Rome torn apart by kidnappings, beatings, torture and murders since, on 7 August 2019, Fabrizio Piscitelli known as Diabolik, head of the Irriducibili of Lazio, was killed by a hitman while sitting on a bench in the Acquedotti park. Diabolik, however, is only the tip of the iceberg of a network of criminal organizations that govern the territoryconsidering that these include the Michele ‘o Pazzo cartel, the historic and emerging underworld and the association of the Albanians, who grew up in the shadow of Piscitelli and became the Lords of drug trafficking. What is central in Francesca Fagnani’s book is the vendettawhich is also the trigger of an all-out conflict for the control of the drug dealing squares, from the Ostia coast to Tor Bella Monaca.
