Malaysian Prime Minister Anvar Ibrahim met with the former general director of the Binance cryptocurrency, Chanpen Zhao to discuss the capabilities of the state in the field of digital assets and blockchain.

Anvar Ibrahim discussed with Changpeng Zhao Changpeng, the technology of blockchain, tokenization and digitalization of financial instruments as key areas of economic development of Malaysia.

The Prime Minister noted that the experience of Zhao can help develop a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies in the country, create an exclusive technological infrastructure and become a regional center of digital assets.

The meeting with the founder of the Binance exchange took place against the backdrop of a growing interest in the blockchain in Southeast Asia. Recently, the authorities of Pakistan appointed Zhao with a strategic adviser to the Cryptocurrency Council (RSC), and the president of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zadir Zadarov signed a memorandum of understanding with Zhao, which provides for educational initiatives in the field of blockchain.

Earlier, Binance Director General Richard Teng said that exchanger experts are actively helping countries, including Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, to develop cryptocurrency regulation and create national reserves in Bitcoin.
