“Mamma Mia” Actress Gives Update on 3rd Film: “In Progress”

The American actress Christine Baranski 72, known for playing the role of Tanya in “Mamma Mia” gave updates on a third film in the franchise, which according to the artist, is in the works. “We will all be on some fabulous Greek or Croatian island having a great time,” she said in an interview.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Baranski confirmed that she had dinner with the producer. Judy Kramer and confirmed that a proposed story is in the works.

“I was in London with Judy Kramer at our favorite bar, she’s planning ‘Mamma Mia 3’. She gave me the narrative plot of how it’s going to happen. That’s all I can say! But it’s not like, “Oh, I wish that would happen!” Judy Kramer makes things happen. She made number two happen, and it was a phenomenal success. I wouldn’t put it past Judy Kramer to get everyone back together,” he said.

In May of this year, the franchise’s protagonist, actress Meryl Streep, 75, had already announced that Kramer was planning a third film. According to the star, the producer was thinking of an alternative to bring Streep’s character back to the plot.

“I don’t know how they’re going to do it. They have an idea. I haven’t heard it yet, but it’s in the works.” [minha agenda] and I’ll hear about it soon,” he revealed. “Of course I want to do it. I think people love it,” he added.

In the plot, Streep plays Donna, the owner of a hotel in Greece, who is preparing her daughter’s wedding there. The bride, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), ends up inviting three of her mother’s ex-boyfriends to try to find out who her father is. Tonya (Christine Baranski), in turn, is one of her best friends and is always by her side in every situation.

A sequel to the musical was released in 2018, which reveals Donna’s death and does not feature Streep. “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again” follows Sophie through her pregnancy while introducing Donna’s past with the three men introduced in the first film.
