After success in cinemas, “Mamonas Assassinas – The Movie” a biopic of the Brazilian rock band, entered the streaming service catalog for free Max this Friday (28).
Previously, the film was available for rent or purchase on the digital platforms Prime Video, Claro TV+ and Apple TV.
“Mamonas Assassinas – The Movie” premiered in 1,054 rooms is at 695 Brazilian cinemas on December 23, 2023. On its opening day alone, it broke records, registering the highest box office for a Brazilian film since 2020.
Directed by Edson Spinello and written by Carlos Lombardi, the biopic follows the trajectory of the band that marked the country and was one of the biggest rock successes in Brazil. The film stars Ruy Brissac, Rhener Freitas, Adriano Tunes, Robson Lima and Beto Hinoto, who play musicians Dinho, Sérgio Reoli, Samuel Reoli, Júlio Rasec and Bento, in that order.
The group was a success in the 90s and had hits such as “Pelados em Santos”, “Vira-Vira” and “Robocop Gay”. Their musical journey, which began in 1995, ended early and tragically. In 1996, while returning from a show in Brasília, the jet the band was in crashed into the Serra da Cantareira and resulted in the death of all crew members.
