Man accused of threatening to kill Joe Biden

The Justice Department announced charges against a Florida man suspected of threatening to kill US President Joe Biden on Wednesday (17), days before the unrelated assassination attempt on Trump.

The FBI said there is still no known motive for the attack on former President Donald Trump on Saturday (13), and that there is no evidence the shooter had accomplices.

According to investigators, Jason Patrick Alday, 39, initially threatened to “slit” Biden’s throat while he was being held at a mental health facility.

In early July, U.S. Secret Service agents questioned Alday at his home about the alleged threats, which he denied.

Several days later, the man allegedly posted on X: “I’m going to kill Joe Biden today!!”

Federal agents searched Alday’s tolls and found additional threats against the president — including one that read, “Sources: Joe Biden’s health is rapidly declining. He’s not doing very well. Should I take him out?”

Investigators also said they found racist threats against the Secret Service agent who interviewed him at his home.

Alday is charged with three crimes, including making threats against the President of the United States.

He made his first court appearance on Wednesday (17) and was detained pending trial.

A CNN has reached out to Alday’s attorney for comment.
