A man was arrested accused of killing his wife and two children, aged 12 years and 11 months, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, west of Rio de Janeiro, this Friday morning (17).
Alexsander Silva, 49, was detained by residents of the condominium until the police arrived. He was even attacked and tied up by neighbors, and was taken into custody at the Lourenço Jorge Municipal Hospital, in Barra da Tijuca. After being released, he was taken to the Homicide Police Station in the Capital, which is investigating the case.
The bodies of Andréia Cabral Pinheiro, 37 years old, Maria Eduarda Fernandes Affonso da Silva, 12 years old and Matheus Alexsander Cabral Pinheiro da Silva, 11 months old were found by Andréia’s family inside the apartment. Andréia’s brothers were worried because they hadn’t been able to make contact since the day before, and they went to the police.
According to the Civil Police, the woman and the girl, Alexsander’s daughter with his first wife, had gunshot wounds. The baby, found lifeless in the crib, showed signs of asphyxia.
According to Chief Wilson Palermo, responsible for the case, the expertise identified the presence of melatonin in the bodies, a substance that causes sleep.
“That was fundamental for him to succeed (perform the crime). We have no doubt that he was really the perpetrator of the crime, even on account of the testimonies of other witnesses”, he said.
According to the investigations, after doping the three victims, Alexsander would have committed the homicides and left the house, only returning in the morning. Military Police reported that there were blood marks and firearm capsules at the scene.
The police asked for the temporary arrest of the suspect, who has several passages by the police, one of them for the murder of the bride, stabbed to death in 2009, when she was trying to end the relationship. Now, he must answer for murder, femicide and the new domestic violence law against children and adolescents.
