Man arrested after torturing seven-year-old stepson in Rio Grande do Sul

The Civil Police, through the Child and Adolescent Protection Police Station (DPPCA), arrested a 32-year-old man accused of torturing his seven-year-old stepson. The crime would have been committed on December 5th in the Niterói neighborhood, in the city of Canoas, metropolitan region of Porto Alegre.

According to investigators, the day after the crime, the boy was taken to school with numerous bruises on his body and in severe pain, which caught the attention of the teaching team. The school contacted the Guardianship Council and the Municipal Guard, who took the minor and his stepfather to a police station.

The head of DPCA Canoas, Delegate Maurício Barison, stated that an investigation was opened in order to investigate the practice of torture by the stepfather and the omission of the boy’s own mother, who was in the residence when the crime was committed. The action would have been motivated by the fact that the child had touched his stepfather’s cell phone.

The Civil Police represented the man’s preventive arrest, which was accepted on Thursday (26) by the Judiciary. He will be sent to the prison system, while his mother is still being sought by the courts. The minor was taken to a safe place and is being cared for by the Public Authorities.
