A 39-year-old man was arrested on the morning of last Sunday after keeping his former partner in private jail and trying to set him on fire in a convenience store located inside a gas station in the city of Blumenau (SC).
The woman, who worked at the scene, was saved after triggering the panic button integrated with the Military Police app. According to the corporation, the victim already had an urgent protective measure against the suspect.
When the man entered the store with a bucket of gasoline and threw the fuel over it, the victim was able to activate the alert, which was immediately received by the corporation’s emergency center.
The attacker took the former partner for the store’s warehouse and tried, for more than 20 times, to scratch matches to start the fire, but was unsuccessful. Upon arriving, the police began a negotiation and, in a moment of man, the victim managed to escape and run toward the exit.
With him was seized a knife that was attached to the waist. The gasoline used in the crime had not been acquired at the post, which reinforces the suspicion of premeditation.

The woman, who had her body soaked with fuel, reported difficulty breathing and burning the skin. She was attended by a team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to the police station.
The man was arrested in the act for attempted femicide.
