A man suspected of raping and killing a one-year-old child was lynched and then burned by the population of Jutaí (AM), a city located 934 kilometers from Manaus. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon (19).
He had been arrested by the police on Wednesday (18), after voluntarily presenting himself at the police station and confessing to the crimes.
The child’s mother reported her daughter’s disappearance, which occurred the night before, while she was sleeping on a floating boat in the port of Jutaí.
The police team from the 56th DIP carried out investigations, collected statements and analyzed images from security cameras, which made it possible to clarify, in less than 24 hours, that the child had been the victim of rape and homicide.
During the interrogation, the population, outraged by what had happened, surrounded and invaded the police station building.
Despite the efforts of the Civil Police, Military Police and Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), the suspect was removed from the scene by locals, beaten to death and then burned.
Civil Police teams were sent to the city to ensure security. The Security Forces have already begun investigations to identify those responsible for the lynching, who may be punished.
