A man accused of applying scams involving cryptocurrencies against 92 people was arrested this Tuesday (17), in Teresina, capital of Piauí.
According to the Civil Police, the 33-year-old suspect was found in his residence, located in a luxury condominium in the East zone of the city.
In addition to the crime of embezzlement, he will also be responsible for criminal association and money laundering.
The operation was supported by IT experts from the Criminalistics Institute of the Scientific Police Department.
How the scam worked
Investigations indicate that the suspect lured victims to invest resources in your company promising high financial returns.
However, he does not fulfilled the promises and closed the company’s activities without transferring the amounts.
During the action, the following were seized:
- Cellular devices;
- Computers;
- Documents.
In addition, there was a blocking of values, car hijacking of luxury and unavailability of real estate.
In total, three addresses were the subject of search and seizure warrants.
