A 56-year-old man was arrested red-handed, in Niterói, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, this Monday (18), for storing images of child sexual abuse on his cell phone. The action, by the Federal Police, aimed to comply with a search and seizure warrant, issued by the 2nd Federal Criminal Court of Niterói, in the Pendotiba neighborhood, in order to repress the sharing and possession of photos and videos with inappropriate content.
According to the PF, an investigation was launched based on investigations carried out by the Center for the Suppression of Child and Youth Sexual Abuse, which identified the commission of crimes classified in the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) by the suspect. With investigations, on and off the internet, it was possible to identify the suspect. In addition to storing image files and videos of a child pornographic nature, he also used a messaging application with the same interest.
The person being investigated will be responsible for storing this type of content, as provided for in the ECA, in addition to other crimes that may be discovered during the investigation.
The action, named Miguel Arcanjo, in reference to the protector of children, is part of a series of operations carried out by the Cybercrime Repression Group (GRCC), of the Federal Police Station in Niterói.
