Man arrested with 6 tons of marijuana in truck loaded with soybeans

Agents from the Federal Police and the Federal Highway Police, in partnership with Federal Revenue inspectors, seized in a joint operation, 6.8 tons of marijuana hidden in a truck loaded with bales of soybeans.

The approach took place in the city of Capitão Leônidas Marques (PR), on Wednesday night (10). The 25-year-old driver was arrested.

According to the PRF, the truck driver reported that he was loading soybeans, which he had boarded in a city in Mato Grosso do Sul and would take to Paranaguá (PR). When asked about being on BR 163, towards Santa Catarina, he was unable to explain the reason and showed a lot of nervousness. Therefore, the police inspected the cargo.

According to the arrest report, “after removing the tarpaulin from the semi-trailer, the driver declared to the team that 'there was something wrong with the load'”.

During the searches, the police found all the drugs inside the soy bags and it was found that the truck was loaded with the drug, a total of 6,870 kg. Arrested, the driver was taken to the superintendence of the Federal Police of Cascavel (PR).

The driver will be charged with the crime of interstate drug trafficking, which can be punished with up to 15 years in prison. The PF is investigating where the amount of drugs came from and who would receive it.
