Man dies after being beaten inside the train station in Porto Alegre

A man died after being beaten inside a station of the Urban Train company in Porto Alegre (Trensurb), last Tuesday night (13), in the Anchieta neighborhood. Marlon Celso da Costa, 44, even received medical attention and was taken to a hospital, but could not resist.

According to Trensurb, the victim was accompanied by co -workers and reached the platform around 7:08 pm. Minutes later, a group of six men would have started the aggressions. Then the group fled.

According to the Rio Grande do Sul Security and Surveillance Workers Union, Marlon worked as a security guard in an outsourced company that provided service to the State Supply Center (Ceasa).

According to the union, he would have been involved, in the exercise of his role, in a discussion with a man who “waited him and attacked him with a group of cronies, when he returned home after office. Marlon still managed to disarm one of the aggressors, taking a knife, but was surrounded by about five men and beaten with extreme violence.”

The South Sindivigilantes, a union of which Marlon was director for two administrations, said he was “considered an excellent professional, husband and father, very estimated by his colleagues and with a large circle of friendships.” Marlon leaves his wife and three children.

Trensurb said the security center detected the fight for a video surveillance system and that the company’s security guards were fired and provided the first calls to the victim.

The Military Brigade and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) were fired, and the man was referred alive to the Christ Redeemer Hospital in Porto Alegre, where he died.

Trensurb said it “regrets” the case and reported that, so far, four suspects have been identified by the authorities.

The company also stated that the station where the crime occurred is equipped with security cameras and that “the entire incident was recorded and the images will be fully made available to the police authorities, who conduct the investigation to the complete elucidation of the facts and identification of those responsible.”
