Man dies electrocuted in Sorriso while trying to dedine energy booth

A 55-year-old farmer died after having an electric discharge, last Tuesday (15), in Sorriso (MT), about 420 kilometers from Cuiabá. Eloe José Zolet performed a dedetization in an electricity measurement booth.

Employees reported to the Mato Grosso Civil Police (PCMT) that Eloe went to the scene to apply poison against rats that were giving rowing, but would not have followed the right safety procedures: staying at a safe distance from the energized site.

Around 12 noon, a farm employee was going to another area when he saw fire near the power measurement cabin and the motorcycle the boss used to use was parked in front. Eloe was electrocuted and fell into the cabin, which originated the short circuit and then the fire.

Upon returning from the activity, he saw that the fire persisted and decided to go to the energy booth, where he found the boss’s body being consumed by fire. He ran to the farm and informed the accident. Energisa was fired, contained the fire and called the Fire Department and the Civil Police.

Energisa’s employees explained that first the electric shock occurred in the victim, then the fire. The cabin was built to support the farm.

The cabin is about 40 meters from a cornfield and is responsible for supplying approximately 13,800 volts used in the operation of property irrigation pivots.
