Man is arrested at Copacabana Palace accused of applying a scam of R$ 9 thousand per pix

The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro arrested, this Monday (5), a man at the luxury Copacabana Palace hotel, in the south zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

The police action took place after “intelligence and monitoring information”. The accusations are of embezzlement and passive corruption.

“According to investigations, the author tricked a victim into making several bank transfers via Pix to a third person’s account and then subtracted her card and used it to have dinner at a luxury restaurant in the South Zone”, informed the Police in a note.

The victim had a loss of at least R$ 9 thousand.

According to the Police, the suspect tried to bribe the officers of the 9th DP at the time of the approach so that he would not be arrested. He was referred to the custody hearing.
