The Military Police arrested a man carrying a 556 caliber rifle at the Rio de Janeiro Bus Station, last Sunday night (20).
Agents from the Tourist Police Battalion (BPTur) also seized three pistols, a revolver, a homemade grenade and several types of ammunition that the suspect was carrying.
According to the PM, all the weapons were found in the passenger’s luggage, whose identity was not revealed.
He was trying to board a flight to Fortaleza (CE) when he became worried about his suitcase and caught the attention of bus station employees, who quickly called the police.
The man was approached by police, who noticed the unusual weight of his luggage and requested a search. The suspect tried to escape, but was quickly captured and subsequently arrested.
The man and the seized material were taken to the 6th DP (Cidade Nova). The suspect will be detained until the custody hearing.
