Man is arrested for showing penis, masturbating and harassing women on a bus on the coast of SP

A man was arrested by the São Paulo State Highway Police after harassing women and masturbating inside a bus that went from Bertioga (SP) to São Sebastião (SP). The case was registered in the early evening of Friday (27), at the Bertioga Civil Police station.

According to the incident report, two victims contacted the bus driver, from the Pássaro Marrom bus, who drove the vehicle to a Military Highway Police base, in Bertioga, where he asked for help.

One of the victims, the deputy councilor of São Sebastião and president of the PSOL in the municipality, Pauleteh Araújo, told the police that the man changed seats several times and that he harassed and harassed her. She filmed the acts.

The man even showed off his penis and masturbated on the bus. Araújo also commented that he harassed another woman and even pulled her hair.

The second victim, called Pâmela, confirmed that her hair was pulled and also said that she had been harassed and harassed. She told police that the man changed places several times, sat next to her and touched her legs.

According to the police report, the man, identified as Welton da Silva Nunes Oliveira, told the police that Araújo had “gone easy” on him and that he offered her money because he believed that this was his “job”.

He also highlighted that he put his penis out and went to the bus bathroom because he believed that the woman would follow him to “do something for him”. However, the man denied having approached Pâmela.

The highway police officers then arrested the man and sent him to the Civil Police, who ordered his arrest in the act.

Revolt and denunciation

A CNN, Pauleteh Araújo said that, upon realizing that he was a harasser, he decided to film the man to ensure that he would not get away with the situation.

“He started harassing me as soon as I got on the bus. He asked me to sit next to him. I even thought he knew me, because I’m a public figure. But I soon realized that this was a harasser,” he said.

“I took out my cell phone and started filming. He asked me to sit with him, tried to sit next to me and then went back to his seat, took out his penis and started masturbating,” he added.

According to her, Welton even offered 100 reais to have sex and said that “it would be the easiest money she had ever made”.

According to Araújo, a woman who was close to her reported that the man started harassing her and other women since he got into the vehicle.

The policy also states that there were many people on the bus, but no one spoke up or acted to reprimand or stop the man. For her, the man showed no signs of drunkenness or drug use.

Araújo decided to take action when he noticed that Welton was harassing a woman accompanied by two children, a boy and a three-year-old girl, who had also been approached by the individual.

“I went to the driver and explained to him what was happening. He was very calm and said he would stop at the first police base that passed by the bus station and he did so,” he noted.

Araújo also said that she and the other passengers spent around two hours at the Highway Police base, until the man was arrested.

Importance of the complaint

The politician, who also works as an advisor to federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP), also told the reporter that she thinks it is important that women who suffer this type of violence do not fail to report their attackers.

“I think it is important to tell women who suffer harassment not to remain silent, to record and collect as much evidence as possible, to ensure that these attackers do not go unpunished,” he warned.

“I, as a political person, a trans woman and a public figure, feel a responsibility to do something about this. I can’t witness this and remain silent, I needed to do something about it,” she concluded.
