A 48-year-old man was arrested in the early evening of this Thursday (2) suspected of threatening, keeping in private prison and sexually violating his neighbor, for approximately 24 hours, in the São Benedito neighborhood, in Santa Luzia, in Greater Belo Horizonte.
According to the Minas Gerais Military Police (PMMG), agents were called at around 6:40 pm to respond to an incident near the neighborhood. The police made contact with the victim at an Emergency Care Unit, where she was found with injuries to her face and bruises on her eyes and told what had happened.
To the team, the victim described that she was walking down the street at around 7:40 pm last Wednesday (1) when she was approached by a man with a kitchen knife, who forced her to follow him. The victim already knew the suspect by sight in the neighborhood.
The suspect allegedly took the woman to his home, where she was sexually assaulted and threatened several times. The victim further claimed that she tried to call for help numerous times, but to no avail.
The woman points out that she was attacked with punches and kicks and said that she was threatened the entire time. According to the report, the suspect also said that if she reported him, he would cut off her fingers. The victim claims to have been tied up with a shoelace, without receiving any food.
Around 6pm this Thursday (2), the suspect entered the bathroom to take a shower, when the woman managed to escape through the windows of the house. After the complaint, the military and vehicles carried out tracking and located the suspect on Rua Bom Pastor, in a food store in the neighborhood.
The business owner stated that the suspect tried to use a credit card — which belonged to the woman — but was unable to do so. According to her, the author took her card and said he would use it for his own consumption. When found by the agents, the suspect denied all accusations made by the woman and said that, in fact, the card was a loan, as she had “a debt to him”.
The notes were denied by the victim who stated that she was married, had children and knew him only by sight.
The military found the author's house and located the knife he used to threaten her, as well as blood marks at the scene. The suspect was arrested red-handed for the crimes of robbery, kidnapping and false imprisonment, as well as rape.
He was taken to the 2nd State Digital Duty Center. The author already had other police records for theft, homicide, robbery, bodily injury and drug trafficking. The victim was transferred to Odilon Behrens Hospital and remained there for observation.
In a statement, the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) stated that it had sent official expertise to the neighborhood to carry out the first surveys on site. PCMG also opened an investigation to determine the details of what happened.
