Man pretends lightning kidnapping to blow insurance in the river

Civil police of the 41st DP (tank) clarified the case of a Man who claimed to have been the victim of lightning kidnapping, with a loss of over $ 13,000, to try to scam in insurance .

According to delegate Ricardo Barboza de Souza, the man registered the case in the police on May 1, stating that he was approached by several armed criminals in Jacarepaguá, in the west of Rio de Janeiro. According to him, the bad guys would have forced to withdraw bank branches and purchases at commercial establishments.

Based on this, the agents of the 41st DP performed several steps to locate the criminals. The case mobilized staff and resources from the police unit, including due diligence in communities with drug trafficking, which put police at risk of confrontation.

During the investigation, however, the agents found that the story was false. According to police, the man’s goal was to apply a blow to obtain undue insurers linked to financial institutions, as well as justify the fraudulent acquisition of a mobile phone.

According to the police, the man himself made the withdrawal of the money mentioned and, the next day, sought the police station to record the false occurrence. To reinforce the version, he even indicated a nonexistent witness, created in order to give credibility to the report.

The suspect was even caught by security cameras shopping at the time when he would be supposed to be under the power of the bandits.

After being confronted with the evidence raised, the suspect confessed to the scam.

According to the delegate, the suspect must answer for false communication of crime and estelionato. In addition, the Civil Police will communicate the case to the State Attorney General to seek compensation for public resources employed in the investigation.
