Man sentenced to more than 100 years in prison for raping five daughters in RS

A man accused of raping his five daughters in the region of the city of Portão, in Rio Grande do Sul, was sentenced to more than 100 years in prison by the state Court of Justice (TJRS).

The defendant was tried for the crimes of rape and rape of vulnerable, involving daughters aged 6 to 15 years old at the time of abuse, which took place between 2012 and 2022. The case was discovered through complaints to the Tutelary Council and the police station of Gate. Investigations were conducted by delegate Marcos Mesquita Moreira. The victims are in an institutional shelter, where they were welcomed.

The decision of the judge of the 2nd Judicial Court of the District of Portão, Flávia Vaz Ribeiro Vanoni, handed down on Friday (26), sentenced the man to 104 years, 9 months and 22 days of imprisonment, in a closed regime.

According to the TJRS, the crimes were committed through intense physical and psychological suffering. The magistrate also condemned the defendant to the loss of family power of daughters under 18 years old. In the process, the mother of the victims was acquitted due to the lack of proof of contribution to the crime.

The man has been held at the Jacuí State Penitentiary, in Charqueadas, since August 2022. He acted for the Public Ministry, the prosecutor Paulo Eduardo de Almeida Vieira. The defense of the defendants was carried out by the public defender and a lawyer appointed by the judge.

The TJRS reported that the parties have already been summoned and the sentence can be appealed. The process proceeds in secrecy of justice.
