Man sues a bar “for getting him drunk” and won $ 5.5 million

In the world there are all kinds of discussions, but none like the one faced by the owner of a bar, who was suing for a diner who alleged that they had sold him alcohol in excess, a situation that put him at risk and led him to have a fight in the parking lot of the place.

The curious thing about this case is that the plaintiff had such a fight in 2019. However, the authorities were in his favor, making the owner compensate him with 5.5 million dollars.

The events occurred on May 21, 2019, in a local bar in Texas, United States. Daniel Rawls was enjoying a dinner in which he drank too much. Although his sobriety was questionable, they continued to sell him alcohol at the place without any problem.

Later, Daniel suffered injuries after having a fight with Robert Henrickson (a local diner who also drank heavily) and he sued the bar owner for selling him too much alcohol.

According to Daniel’s attorney, Daniel’s injuries could have been prevented if the bar had not continued to serve alcohol to both men, who were visibly drunk.

In the lawsuit, both the bar owner and the bartender were charged with allowing both diners to drink excessively and leave the place together. In addition, they were blamed for not calling the ambulance so that Daniel could be treated immediately.

But this is not all, because the lawsuit also included accusations for poor conditions of the establishment, negligence and damages derived from the passive conduct of the workers and owner. Because of this, Daniel won in court and now the bar owner will have to pay him a large sum if he does not file a notice to appeal against him. How will all this end?
