A 25-year-old man, who was attacking his 64-year-old mother, was arrested in the act at her home this Wednesday (2), in the western region of Belo Horizonte.
Agents from the Civil Police of Minas Gerais made the arrest after the suspect failed to comply with a protective measure requested by his own mother.
According to delegate Naira Rajab Bassul, responsible for the investigation, the elderly woman requested the measure in July this year, as she had been attacked by her son after denying him money to buy drugs.
“The victim lived in a property with his children (the suspect and a daughter) and his four-month-old grandson. In July, her son physically attacked her and the elderly woman requested a protective measure. Subsequently, the protective measure was granted, however, the person being investigated returned to the victim’s residence”, informed Bassul.
The elderly woman was summoned to a hearing, in which she reported that her son returned to live at her home, even with the protective measure and aware that he should stay away.
“The victim stated that he feared for his safety, considering that the person being investigated was becoming more aggressive every day. She was interviewed on October 1st, when she reported the facts”, highlighted the delegate.
Given the woman’s testimony and evident non-compliance with protective measures, the police went to the victim’s residence where they arrested the suspect in the act.
According to police, he was sent to the prison system and the investigation should be completed in the next few days.
