The man who claims to be the “most fertile” father in the UK told “The Sun” that he has more than 160 children, but only saw one of them last Father’s Day.
Joe, 51, is an international sperm donor and has made it his life’s mission to help women get pregnant through “partial intercourse”, which is sex without kissing, natural or artificial intercourse.
The man, who goes by the pseudonym Single Joe, has traveled to America, Argentina, Italy, Singapore, the Philippines and the UK donating his sperm. Of the 160 children he allegedly fathered, he only knows 60.
Joe, who is originally from Vermont in the United States, lives in the United Kingdom and spoke to the newspaper “The Sun”: “I’m going to see one of my children on Father’s Day”.
“Father’s Day is so different from Mother’s Day, because Mother’s Day is about getting flowers and all that stuff (…) .
Questioned by the newspaper about the approach of those interested in the donation, Joe explained.
“People contact me on Facebook or Instagram or send me an email and ask me for help and I usually ask about my period. (…) I use the start date for all my calculations and put it in my calculator and then we set a date to meet and discuss exactly how they want to do it.”
“For some people, natural insemination is the most effective, but some people are in a relationship where they think this could cause problems, so they prefer to do artificial insemination”, says Joe about ways to donate.
The search for help through social networks has intensified after the shortage of sperm across the country, in addition to two years of Covid restrictions. Also, the other factor is the high cost of becoming a private donor – up to £2,000 (£2,000) for a single artificial insemination (AI) cycle using donor sperm, or £7,000 (£10,000) for in vitro fertilization.
Donating sperm in return for payment is prohibited by law in the UK. So, those interested who go through fertility clinics or sperm banks do not have any rights or responsibilities in relation to children conceived with their sperm.
In any case, the child has the right to request certain information about their donor when they reach the age of 16.
