The man suspected of stabbing doorman Gabriel Araújo, 48, to death, was arrested on Monday night (2) in São Paulo. He lives in the building where Gabriel worked and was identified with the help of security cameras from businesses on Rua Caraíbas, in Perdizes (west zone), where the crime occurred.
In a statement at the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP) this Tuesday morning (3), the man, whose name was not revealed, said that he had committed the crime due to abuse committed by Gabriel against a resident of the condominium where he lived.
However, in testimony, the woman denied that she had suffered any type of abuse by the man who was murdered.
The crime happened around 6am on Monday (2), when Gabriel was leaving work at the Terracota building. He was walking down the street when he was surprised by the accused, who hit him with dozens of knife blows. He died at the scene.
After the statement at the DHPP, the suspect was sent for forensic examinations at the Legal Medical Institute and will then be taken to the 2nd DP (Bom Retiro).
