The fatal run over occurred on the morning of Wednesday (30), at Rua Calábria, Parque Novo Oratorio neighborhood, in Santo André, ABC Paulista. Luís Antônio, 74, was sitting on the sidewalk after saying goodbye to his granddaughter, who went to college.
According to the police report, the driver was trying to make a right conversion as another bus approached. When trying to cross the road, accelerated, lost control of the vehicle, climbed the sidewalk and hit the elderly. The action was caught by a security camera.

After being run over, the driver tried to escape, but was prevented by neighbors. The Military Police found that Eloi Henrique Guimarães presented “Evident signs of drunkenness ” as dragged, ethyl odor and reddish eyes, as well as aggressive behavior.
Initially, he refused to take the blood test for alcohol, but then agreed, and the clinical examination at the Medical-Legal Institute (IML) confirmed the drunkenness.
The police report also points out that Audi was with the late licensing and four traffic assessments were drawn up against the driver for several infractions. The driver had a previous criminal point and was in conditional deliverance. The vehicle was seized and taken to the municipal courtyard.
Eloi Henrique Guimarães was arrested in the act for manslaughter and guilty bodily injury towards motor vehicle qualified by drunk driving.
According to the São Paulo Court of Justice, the driver’s arrest in the act was converted to preventive after a custody hearing held on Thursday (1).
The case was registered in the 2nd Police District of Santo André and is still under investigation by the Civil Police. The funeral of Luís Antônio Previatello took place this Thursday (1), at Nossa Senhora do Carmo Cemetery, in Santo André.
