Manchester United has withdrawn its sponsorship of Russian airline Aeroflot following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Premier League football club has said.
Russian Aeroflot was banned from flying to the United Kingdom yesterday after the Russian invasion, according to the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority.
“In light of the developments in Ukraine, Aeroflot’s sponsorship rights have been revoked. We share the concerns of our fans around the world and express our condolences to those affected,” said a spokesman for the group.
Manchester United made Aeroflot its first Russian sponsor in 2014, when it replaced Turkish Airlines with it in its travels.
It is recalled that UEFA has decided to move the headquarters of the Champions League final to Paris from St. Petersburg, while Formula One announced that the Grand Prix in the knuckle will not take place.
