Roskosmos continues to share details about the creation of a new manned transport spacecraft Oryol. This time, the press service reported that the Eagle will undergo vacuum tests on domestic equipment.

At the Vostochny cosmodrome, the commissioning and commissioning of the technological evacuation system of the vacuum plant complex has already begun. More than 30 vacuum pumps of five types are required to create the necessary environment. The first batch of such pumps was delivered to the spaceport in December 2021. All of them are manufactured at domestic enterprises in the cities of Kazan and Omsk. And now, preliminary work is underway to create the first technological vacuum.

The vacuum unit, 14 meters long and 9 meters in diameter, is an assembly required for leak testing of the compartments of manned transport ships and other spacecraft. Inside it, pressure is simulated, with a load on all elements of the ship’s structure, similar to that created in orbital flight. This allows us to evaluate the mechanical interaction of elements before launch and see how the structure behaves in the vacuum of space.

Recall that the Oryol manned transport vehicle is a heavy ship, mainly intended for flights to the moon. A test flight in unmanned mode should take place in 2024. Before flying with a crew on board, the ship must make two flights without people to prove its reliability.
