Dona Ivonete is 63 years old and is the mother of presenter Manoel Soares. In an interview with “Quem Pode, Pod”, the son shocked the presenters Giovanna Ewbank and Fernanda Paes Leme when they said that, in the 60s, it was marketed in the Recôncavo Baiano.
“My mother is special because she is the only person I know who lived through slavery and Facebook in the same life,” he said.
According to the presenter, the mother suffered the violence of having her ear cut off by the “owners”.
“When you consider that slavery ended in Brazil 130 years ago, that’s a very short time. So when I sit down to talk to her, she brings back very active, very vivid memories,” he reflected.
In the podcast, Manoel Soares also reported that he discovered that his family came from Alagoas and were the last remnants of Quilombo dos Palmares.
“Then you understand a lot. That’s why I can’t make the histogram where the movie of my life begins. Because I am a descendant of Quilombo de Palmares. My grandparents and great grandparents were together with Zumbi”, she said.
