Manuele Mameli judge of the talent Mission Beauty: “As a child I used to make up my mom”

She gained the status of make-up guru thanks to the confidence that Chiara Ferragni has placed in him: he is his personal glam artist. Of the fashion influencer, digital entrepreneur and mom squared, she also did it for her wedding with Fedez and signed the looks of the docu-film Chiara Ferragni-Unposted. He is one of the most faithful characters of his entourage: where Chiara is, there is Manuele. But in his curriculum, by now, the make-up artist of Sardinian origin, was born in Cagliari, he also counts other names such as Eva Riccobono, Valentina Ferragni and more. Yet the face on which she loves to test her skills as a make-up artist is still that of her sister, Francesca Mameli, the protagonist of many posts on her Instagram profile.

Recently she plays the role of judge in the first talent dedicated to the world of beauty Missione Beauty, broadcast on Rai2 and RaiPlay every Friday at 5.15pm. The original Italian format, presented by Clinique, Aveda and the Naïma group of perfumeries, is led by Melissa Satta who, together with a pool of judges, are looking for the new make-up artists and hair-stylists of tomorrow. Three industry experts and talent-scouters chosen as jurors: Elisa Rampi, celebrity hair-stylist & make-up artist, Guido Taroni, fashion and interior design photographer e Manuele Mameli, celebrity fashion make-up artist and hair-stylist, who even in this role of talent selector never stops spreading a message in which he strongly believes: never try to hide your flaws with makeup. His motto is to try to enhance and enhance them to make them distinctive characteristics and tools for self-empowerment. For him in make-up there is only one rule: don’t follow any rules.

We joined him to let us tell about his passion for make-up and his new adventure a Missione Beauty, the talent show that week after week turns out to be a stage that welcomes diversity and free self-expression.

Is the new Rai talent show dedicated to beauty a place of inclusiveness, where learning to like and accept yourself, to be yourself, can you tell us what this experience is teaching you?
«Today young people have so many channels of communication, so many stimuli, so many sources from which to get information. This causes their minds to open, and we are increasingly witnessing a change in values ​​and beliefs with respect to my generation or that of my parents. This experience leaves me with hope in the new generation, which accepts itself and welcomes what is different than usual ».

What strikes you about the make-up artists you are meeting, observing and evaluating, about their way of working, do you find it different from yours?
«Their confidence strikes me so much, at their age I wasn’t like that confident, and it is good for them because they will face the challenges more easily ».

What makes a person a true make-up artist, what quality should they have in your opinion?
«Surely talent, studying is not enough, you need to have a certain sensitivity, taste, and a strong personality. You have to empathize with the person in front of you, this is fundamental “.

Can you tell us your story, your dreams, have they all come true?
«I have always had a passion for aesthetics. As a child I used to make up my mom and I dreamed of making my passion my job. Then from Cagliari I moved to Milan. Initially, I admit, I was scared because I didn’t know what awaited me. Then I started working in retail as a make-up artist for a luxury brand that gave me the opportunity to do their top clients and I traveled a lot. At the same time, as soon as I could, I showed up on the sets of photo shoots. This allowed me to meet many people and to win their trust and esteem, including Chiara for whom I still work today. I still have many dreams to fulfill. It is essential to always have goals and always try to improve ».

What are the products that can never be missing in a makeup signed by Manuele Mameli?
“There are several. I like to experiment with new brands and I always try to be attentive to news. Among the many I would say concealer and foundation by Clinique Even Better I am a pillar. Lately I really like playing with glitter for a bit more special make-up ».

In your opinion, where is make-up going, what are we looking for today from make-up?
«Today perhaps we no longer speak only of make-up for a special event or evening, people try to express themselves and their personalities and decide how to show themselves to others. I notice that there are more and more enthusiasts looking for more information on products and news, I think that wearing make-up is a genderless passion that is spreading more and more ».

How do you prepare your skin so that the make-up lasts longer and the result is “WOW”?
«Undoubtedly the correct skincare is essential to have an optimal result also of the make-up. I always recommend a good hydration before applying make-up, and a face scrub once or twice a week to remove dead cells and smooth the face ».

“It is to continue to have my own vision, my distinctive and recognizable trait”.
