Manufacturers themselves are already beginning to advertise gaming laptops as mining devices. MSI decided to conduct such an experiment.

Nvidia video cards of the Ampere generation turned out to be very interesting for miners, and mobile versions too. Because of this, cryptocurrency miners are actively buying gaming laptops, although it is clearly too early to talk about a total deficit.

And when miners are interested in such devices, this is normal in the current market realities. Much more interesting is when gaming laptop manufacturers start to indulge this.

MSI, one of the leaders in the gaming laptop market, posted on its website that it is going to conduct a one-month experiment in which the GE76 Raider gaming mobile PC will tirelessly mine. The goal of the experiment is to see how much such a laptop can bring in a month, and whether it is profitable.

The device is based on the GeForce RTX 3080 and MSI estimates its Ethereum mining performance at 52.8 MH / s. It’s worth noting that the GE76 Raider is one of the few gaming laptops on the market with the RTX 3080 at its maximum. In this case, the TDP is set at 155 W.

In fact, it all looks more like a regular advertisement. Of course, the rate of cryptocurrencies is constantly fluctuating, but even without any experiments, you can easily estimate how much a particular device can bring. In particular, at the agreed level of performance, a laptop at the current rate is capable of bringing in about $ 160-170 per month, excluding the cost of electricity. For the GE76 Raider, they are now asking about $ 2900, that is, it will pay off with a constant rate in about 17 months.

As a result, it is not very clear why one of the leaders in the gaming laptop market should once again advertise its gaming mobile PC to miners.
