Manufacturing PMI exceeds expectations and reaches highs since 1994

The UK Preliminary Manufacturing PMI has risen to 60.7 in April from 58.9 in March, exceeding the 59 points expected by the market. This is the best result obtained by the indicator in 321 months, specifically since July 1994.

The services PMI has jumped to 60.1 from 56.3, reaching its highest level in 80 months, since August 2014. The result has exceeded the 59 forecasts estimated by the market.

Composite PMI has jumped to 60 in April from 56.4 in March, its highest score since November 2013.

According to IHS Markit, the easing of restrictions due to the pandemic have resulted in the fastest growing private sector in the UK since late 2013.
