Manufacturing sales rise 3.5% in March, in line with expectations

The Canadian manufacturing sales rose 3.5% in March, matching the market consensus. In this way, they reached the highest level since June 2019. Utilization capacity for the manufacturing sector increased from 75.5% to 80.1% in March, the highest level since October 2019.

The wholesale sales in March they rose 2.8%, recovering after the 0.9% drop in February.

The USD / CAD posted a sharp decline after the data and fell towards 1.2100. At the same time, the US retail sales report for April was released, which left the dollar weak.
